Taz Taylor Band

After years of melting fretboards and sharing stages with legends, Taz Taylor Band is back with a bold new chapter—The Other Side Of Midnight, a 10-track blast of melodic hard rock with an unexpected twist. Released May 14, 2025, this album doesn’t just continue the legacy of TTB’s riff-heavy catalog—it reshapes it, led for the first time by a full-time band vocalist. And here’s the kicker: she absolutely kills it.

That voice belongs to Laura K. Vreeland, who steps out front and center after nearly three years of touring with the band. Known for collaborations with icons like Graham Bonnet, Mark Boals, and Doogie White, Taz has never shied away from powerhouse vocalists. But this time, instead of calling in favors, he built something more permanent.

After we completed Nocturnal, we needed someone to carry that material live. Turns out, the guy we were looking for… was a girl! Laura brought a new level of chemistry we hadn’t tapped into before,” Taz shares.

The results speak for themselves. The Other Side Of Midnight blends all the big riffs and searing solos you’d expect from a guitarist who’s opened for MSG, Uli Jon Roth, and Eric Johnson, but it also showcases a more cohesive and emotionally resonant sound. Songs like “Every Day” radiate hope and defiance, anchored by Vreeland’s raw vocal power. It’s melodic hard rock, no doubt, but with a deeper soul and sharper hooks than ever.

From the soaring “Lonely I Ride” to their gutsy take on “Temple Of The King”, the album is a love letter to rock and roll—drawing from the spirit of Michael Schenker Group, Rainbow, Van Halen, and even Journey. It’s guitar-forward, sure, but not guitar-exclusive. There’s serious attention paid to songwriting and dynamics, and the presence of Italian rock maestro Alessandro Del Vecchio on keyboards and backing vocals adds even more polish and punch.

This new release lands on the heels of a career already packed with high points. It’s easy to forget just how far Taz Taylor has come. The UK-born shredder showed up in Los Angeles in 1997 with a guitar, a backpack, and $2,000 to his name. He drove 18-wheelers across the country by day and practiced guitar in his sleeper cab by night. That kind of dedication doesn’t fade—and you can hear it in every note.

By 2004, Taz had dropped his debut Caffeine Racer, leading to a partnership with Graham Bonnet for the 2006 release Welcome To America. The band then hit the road hard across Europe, followed by Straight Up in 2009 (featuring Don Airey of Deep Purple), and a string of respected instrumental albums like Big Dumb Rock and Hats, Tats And Guitars.

2017’s Pressure And Time brought back acoustic elements and more melody, while Nocturnal (2022) fused Taz’s shredding with an all-star cast of guest singers. But The Other Side Of Midnight feels different—more unified, more personal. Maybe it’s the fact that Vreeland is now part of the core lineup, or maybe it’s the band’s own evolution finally catching up with itself.

Laura herself puts it best: “Taz reassured me that I had what it takes. Now here I am, fronting an original rock band and loving every minute of it. This album is a dream come true.”

And the dream keeps moving. Over the past two and a half years, TTB has shared stages with some of the biggest names in the business at iconic Southern California venues. With The Other Side Of Midnight now spinning on platforms everywhere, their momentum doesn’t seem to be slowing down.

So if you’re into high-octane solos, big choruses, and classic rock tones with a modern engine under the hood, this album is a must. And if you’re already a Taz Taylor fan, get ready to meet a new side of the band—one with grit, groove, and yes, one hell of a voice at the front of the stage.

The Other Side Of Midnight is out now on No Hair Records. The album runs 45 minutes and 46 seconds—plenty of time to remind you what real rock still sounds like. The midnight hour has arrived—and it’s louder than ever.
